Who are we?
The Florida Hurricane Network
(FLHN) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to helping
Floridians prepare for, survive, and recover from the
hurricanes and tropical storms that regularly impact
our beautiful state.
Our mission is to provide timely
information about these calamities and provide a forum through which Floridians can share vital
information with each other in times of emergency.
FLHN was founded in 2004 and is supported by private and corporate donors throughout
Florida.
About William Lovin, President and
Executive Director
William Lovin, patent attorney and industry recognized expert in communication technology, the Internet, and software, played a seminal role in the development of modern telecommunications systems. In the early 1980s, Mr. Lovin helped develop the first systems that carried voice and computer data simultaneously on the same network. Lured by the early promise of the Internet, Mr. Lovin first moved to Florida in 1985 to help found Internet Systems, Corp. in Sunrise. There, Mr. Lovin helped design and implement some of the basic systems and software that makes today's Internet work.
Returning to Texas several years later, he helped design and develop ACT! - the most popular Customer Relationship Management
(CRM) program ever written. Returning again to Florida in 1994, Mr. Lovin focuses on helping technology-based companies with complex financing, business management, and intellectual property management tasks. Mr. Lovin's website is:

Mr. Lovin lives in Deerfield Beach, Florida
and Dallas, Texas.
About Peter Murphy, Director
In his home state of New Hampshire, Peter Murphy made political
history with his election to the House of Representatives as the
first member of his party from his district since pre-Civil War days. The
youngest State legislator in the U.S. at that time, he
went on to serve as a city councilor and Lt. Governor
nominee. He is included in the Dictionary of
International Biography and Who's Who In American
Politics. He authored the first consumer protection law in the nation
and was a prolific member of the Constitutional
Convention in the Granite State, sponsoring several
successful amendments to the State constitution. As a social
services administrator, he created many innovative programs for children
and youth.
He is currently involved in television and media,
working with, among others, the Fischler School of Nova University.
Rounding out full professional and political careers,
Mr. Murphy appeared
alongside Alan Arkin and Donald Pleasance in
the Emmy-award winning political thriller The
Defection Of Simas Kudirka.
Mr. Murphy lives in Melbourne, Florida.
